Student Power Trader
Kickstart your power trading career while studying — and get real responsibility close to a live trading desk.
Location
Navitas, Aarhus
Workload
20–25 hours/week
Focus
Power trading & data
We are looking for a Student Power Trader to join our intraday trading team, primarily helping cover weeknights and weekends.
This is a role for someone curious, analytical and ambitious — someone who wants to grow with us, learn how short-term power markets move, and help shape the way we trade.
The role
As a Student Power Trader, you will become an active part of the trading desk and gradually take on responsibility for live market coverage during evenings and weekends.
You will work closely with experienced traders, learn how short-term power markets move, and help identify the data, events and signals that explain price changes.
Your responsibilities
Learn from the desk
Shadow experienced traders, learn our decision-making frameworks, and build hands-on understanding of intraday and short-term power trading.
Cover live shifts
After training, help manage live market coverage during evening and weekend hours while staying aligned with the team’s risk framework.
Explore power markets
Learn how weather, production, consumption, interconnector flows, liquidity and market events affect European power prices.
Think analytically
Investigate market moves, formulate hypotheses, and use data to understand why prices behave the way they do.
Work with tools & data
Suggest, test or prototype tools that help capture observations, validate ideas and support trading decisions.
Develop risk awareness
Learn how we manage positions, monitor exposure, evaluate P&L drivers, and make decisions under uncertainty.
What we are looking for
You do not need to know power trading already. You should be motivated by markets, data and fast-moving decision-making.
- Academic background: You are studying Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or a related field.
- Interest in markets: You are curious about trading, price movements, energy markets and how information turns into decisions.
- Analytical mindset: You are comfortable working with numbers, charts and data — and enjoy asking why something happened.
- Curiosity and initiative: You like exploring new data sources, testing ideas and learning new tools.
- Responsibility and calmness: You can stay focused, communicate clearly and follow risk guidelines.
- Team player: You are humble, helpful, curious and eager to contribute.
Nice to have
It is a plus, but not a requirement, if you have experience with trading or following markets — for example energy, stocks, commodities, crypto or other fast-moving markets.
We care less about the specific market and more about your curiosity, discipline and ability to think in probabilities.
What we offer
- Real desk experience close to live trading decisions.
- Meaningful responsibility where your work can influence decisions over time.
- Mentorship from experienced traders and quantitative profiles.
- Flexible student schedule of around 20–25 hours per week.
- A small, ambitious team with a flat structure and open discussions.
- A strong learning environment across power markets, trading, risk and data.
Why join us?
At Vis Commodities, you are not “just a student employee”. You become part of the team and join a culture that works to bring out the best in people.
You will get the opportunity to learn power trading from the inside, take responsibility early, and help improve how the team understands and acts on market movements.
About Vis Commodities
Vis Commodities is a young, ambitious and data-driven power trading company based in Aarhus. We are one of the smaller trading teams in the market, but we have built stable results, grown year by year, and continue to expand our activities across European power markets.
Our approach combines live trading, market curiosity and quantitative analysis. We believe some of the best trading ideas come from the people closest to the market. That is why we work hard to bring data, tools and analysis close to the trading desk.
